Creativity has played a big part in my life, from sketching for hours in my bedroom as a child being one of my earliest memories, to studying to become a Chartered Architect for seven years, then working in this highly creative industry for over 25 years.

I still remember my first camera, a Kodak EKTRA 12 EF 110 film camera which I got for Christmas back in 1980. I was never without this little black box, capturing family moments, not yet knowing photography would play such a big part in my life for the next 40 years.

Photography comes from the Greek word Phos, meaning Light and Graphe, meaning writing. From my earliest snapshots I have been fascinated by the process of light writing and how it can capture, record and document my life (I’ve always had a terrible memory), but also it’s ability to create Art from the everyday world around us.

My passion for photography has changed over the years from early ‘snaps’, to Architecture whilst at university, to portraiture, documentary, weddings, abstracts to more recent Street photography work. Three elements are consistent throughout all of my work, the combination of Light, Composition and Moment. Each of these play an equally important role in my creative process of making (not taking) a photograph, but for me it’s always been about truly capturing ‘that moment’.
